Fine Furniture one-off bespoke Dining Chairs . A design challenge that has tempted most designers, artists, and architects.
To be original seems to be the driving force, so when I started my design career, originality was built around new ways of sitting, so it wasn't until I produce a design based around the strictures of traditional ways of sitting that I was successful. The first of the designs were based on an 18th century chair in the Victoria & Albert Museum so it was an honour that they bought an example for their collection. I took the proportions of the original stripped it down to its basic form, and then used joints that would express this form. I have createdand developed this design using different decorative motifs for the back but the main structure with the square front with mitred joints and drop in seats being a constant. |
